coffee filter lampshade

got the idea off pinterest. look it up it's super easy and totally cute...
(how it looks with the lamp on at night)

be careful not to get a lampshade that's already big. i made that mistake with this one and it turned out way too huge. still cute though.
and you can also cut the filters in half and make a little one...

old fence frame

so i didn't know what i was going to do with this old fence that i pulled from my neighbors yard a few months ago, but i knew it would be something:)
well here it is.
(van told me it was ugly and asked me why i want to put old boards up on the wall. ha! what does he know right?!)
originally this spot is where our family picture hung. i painted a  green square on the wall and put the picture over it with a huge frame, but it didn't look right, i just wasn't feeling it. so now what was i going to do with that big green square i painted on the wall? there was no picture big enough to cover it (it's about 4 ft. tall), plus it wasn't square- so i improvised and came up with this...

i hung the picture, then piece by piece i nailed the boards to the wall especially choosing ones that looked beat up, added a little white wash to match the picture...
and there we have it:)

knife block

candy gram

who doesn't love a good candy gram?! these are always fun to do:)

designer toddler gate

who said functional had to look ugly? certainly not me. this little beauty (the gate and baby mia), added a nice touch to our home:)

(way easy to make. painted plywood, hinges, scrapbook paper, mod podge, and hardware)

cube thingys

got these at the thrift store looking all gross and fixed 'em up. i made them about 2 years ago and still haven't found a use for them though:/

family picture memory board

under the desk chair roller board

i couldn't stand the thought of having one of those plastic things under the desk, so i got a big piece of plywood, painted it black, and made a checkerboard design with mod podged scrapbook paper.

(after about a year, the paper started to rip and come up, so i replaced the paper with 12x12 sheets of self adhesive laminate tile for 99 cents a piece)

relief society shadow box thingy

not that this is so great, but i did make it- and it took me like two days. anyways, they asked a bunch of us to make a centerpiece for the relief society bday a few months ago. we were each given the name of one of the prior general relief society presidents, and the centerpiece was to represent the great women they were, and their accomplishments while serving in their calling.

so i highlighted some good things about clarissa williams. she served in the 1920's, was a school teacher and ran a daycare, she volunteered in the red cross, traveled around the world helping women, headed up a charity to donate money for those in need, and much more...

memory box

last year was a really good year for jasmine. she turned 14 (her lucky number) which will never happen again in her life, she started high school and found her nitch right away with theater and choir, and she has grown into such a beautiful girl with so many talents and hobbies and things that she likes. this might be *selfish on my part but i don’t want her to forget any of this, so i made her a memory box. i want her to remember this year and the things that made her- her. maybe one day she’ll take it out of storage, dust it off and show her kids. i’m hoping she’ll look at it and remember this great time in her life.

*i say selfish because this was SO fun for me to make! i was dying to do a project and when i saw the box at hobby lobby i thought of jasmine and all the cute things i could do with it. i mean really- i could have just written everything down if i was only concerned with preserving memories right? well…that’s just not my style:)
